LEWISTON – Richard and Rachelle Simard of Lewiston celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 19, hosted by their children.

Mr. Simard and the former Rachelle Grenier were married on Sept. 6, 1954, at a traditional wedding performed by the Rev. Roger Ouellette at Holy Family Church at 7 a.m. A reception followed at the Webber Avenue Club. The couple traveled to Daytona Beach and Miami, Fla., for their honeymoon.

The couple renewed their wedding vows at Holy Family Church with the Rev. Andrew Dubois presiding. Following the ceremony, guests were received at the Simard home in Lewiston, where a potluck meal was shared by family and friends.

Mrs. Simard displayed her original wedding dress, as well as her going-away outfit and original accessories. Wedding albums and artifacts of their trip to Florida were also displayed.

They are the parents of six children, Catherine, Danny and Tammy, all of Chandler, Ariz., Sandra of Sabattus, Michael and Auburn and Lisa of Lewiston. Their sons-in-law are Carl Rodrigue and Jeff Lever of Chandler, Ariz., David Rossignol of Sabattus and Elwin Scott of Lewiston. They are also have seven grandchildren, Chad Rodrigue, Christa Badoreik, Sarah, Katie and Benjamin Rossignol and Ashley and Tyler Scott. Great-grandchildren are Amelia Rose Badoreik and Connor Rodrigue.

The couple received many gifts and cards, and their children presented them with a garden bench etched with the family tree for them to place in their home where beautiful landscapes were designed and completed by their children for them to enjoy.
