HARTFORD – A Springtime Tea Party will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Hartford Community Church, Church Street.

Women are encouraged to bring a guest to tea with fancy treats, a silent auction, storyreading and junior choir performance.

Maundy Thursday

HARTFORD – A Maundy Thursday service will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Leeds Community Church on Church Hill Road. A quiet vespers service is planned with communion and prayers. All are welcome.

The celebration of Easter Sunday will begin at 6 a.m. at the Hartford church, followed by a fellowship breakfast at the Hartford Town Hall. The Leeds Community Church will host a special Easter service at the usual hour of 10:15 a.m.

Easter services

OXFORD – The Oxford Advent Christian Church will hold a Maundy Thursday service with communion on Thursday, March 24, at the church on Route 26.

On Friday, the church will participate in the Walk of the Cross at 1 p.m. beginning on Main Street in Norway and continuing to Trinity Lutheran Church on Route 117 in Paris.

Easter Sunday celebrations begin with a SONrise service at 6 a.m. outside the home of Alberta Twitchell on Fore Street, Oxford. Afterward, there will be a breakfast served at the church.

Sunday school classes will follow at 8:30 a.m. and the Resurrection Celebration service marking Easter will be held at 10 a.m.

The public is welcome to participate in all events. There will be no Sunday evening service.

OTISFIELD – The Otisfield Town Office reminds the public that office hours will remain the same as in 1992. The town report states office hours will change April 1. Regular office hours will be from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. There will be no Saturday hours. Holy Week

PARIS – The First Congregational Church, 17 East Main St., has announced its Holy Week activities. Maundy Thursday will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the church. A fish chowder supper will be followed by a communion service in the church vestry.

On Friday, March 25, the church will join at 1 p.m. with the Oxford Hills area churches for the annual Good Friday Walk at the Norway Unitarian Universalist Church, Main Street.

Easter Sunday sunrise service will be held at 6 a.m. The church will join with Deering Memorial and Second Congregational UCC for a brief service in the Second Congregational Church parking lot, Paris and Main streets, followed by breakfast in their vestry.

Easter services will be held at 10 a.m. There will be no Sunday school and there will be child care for the youngest of children. The public is invited to attend worship services Sundays at 10 a.m. Sunday services are broadcast live on AM 1450 and AM 780. Those wanting more information should call the Rev. Don Mayberry at 743-2437. The First Congregational Church is handicapped accessible.

Holy Week

NORWAY – Christ Church has announced its Holy Week schedule of events. A Maundy Thursday service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the church, 35 Paris St.

Holy Communion will be offered in observance of Jesus’ Last Supper, also stripping the altar in anticipation of Good Friday. At 7 p.m. Friday, March 25, there will be Solemn Collects, St. John’s Passion Gospel, Holy Communion and Contemplation of the Cross.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, March 26, the Great Vigil will be the first service of Easter with lighting the paschal candle and individual candles from the new fire, hearing the ancient stories of faith, lights, bells, Easter Communion and refreshments. Easter day will be a continuation of the celebration with Holy Communion and special music.

Good Friday walk

NORWAY – The Oxford Hills Clergy and congregations invite the public to participate in the annual community Good Friday Walk of the Cross at 1 p.m., March 25, beginning at the Norway Unitarian Universalist Church, Main Street.

The cross is traditionally carried to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Paris, but due to snow conditions this year, the walk will proceed through Norway only, with stops at the Second Congregational Church, Christ Episcopal Church and St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Main and Paris streets. The walk will conclude at St. Catherine’s at approximately 2 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to participate and carry the cross for a bit. Children are welcome. Seniors may meet at the various churches and drive between them. Those who want more information should call 743-6906.

Ball sign-ups

OXFORD – There will be baseball and softball sign-ups from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 26, at the Station House Community Center, formerly the old fire station. Sign-ups are for girls ages 5 to 18 years and boys ages 5 to 15 years.

Easter festival

NORWAY – The Norway Business Association will hold an Easter Spring Festival for children up to age 12 at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at the Norway Fire Station.

Events will include face-painting, coloring table, Bumps Express DJ Service, cake walks, egg races, bunny hop, beverages and a visit with the Easter Bunny.

Two services

WEST PARIS – The West Paris Universalist Church will have two Easter services led by the Rev. Joy Gasta: A sunrise service will be held at 6 a.m. (changed from 6:30) at the Brown place, Perham Farm Road, and an 11 a.m. service at the church, Main Street.
