CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga chancellor search panel recommended four finalists Wednesday, including former University of Maine President Peter Hoff.

The other finalists were Roger D. Brown, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke; Stephen F. Flatt, president of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn.; and Martha Saunders, vice president for academic affairs at Columbus State University in Columbus, Ga.

The 17-member search panel sent the names to University of Tennessee President John Petersen.

The new chancellor is expected to take office by July 1.

Former Chancellor Bill Stacy left UTC in August to become headmaster at Baylor School, a private preparatory school in Chattanooga.

Hoff resigned last summer after seven years as president of the University of Maine’s flagship campus in Orono.
