BETHEL – Western Mountains Senior College is offering a variety of programs for its members this spring. Three programs will start the first week in April. A small fee of $25 for books and materials is charged for each course. Course description follows:

“Writing for Your Children and Grandchildren” will be presented by Gwyneth Bohr, a long-time member of the Bethel community and frequent facilitator in writing and journaling. The course will be held from 9:45 a.m. to noon on four Wednesdays, April 6, 13, 20 and 27, at her home at 38 Chapman St., Bethel.

“Traveling with Chaucer: The Canterbury Tales” will be presented by Bonney Pooley, English teacher at Gould Academy. The course will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on four Wednesdays, April 6, 13, 20 and 27, at the Trustees Auditorium, McLaughlin Science Center, Gould Academy, Bethel.

Pooley spent several weeks in England last summer following the steps of Chaucer and other English authors. Participants will examine the life and times of Geoffrey Chaucer and read some of the most interesting tales he completed for the classic work.

“Myers-Briggs Assessment” will be presented by Ellen Crocker. Crocker has a BA in philosophy from Wellesley College and a master’s from Harvard in human development. The course will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on four Thursdays, April 7, 14, 21 and 28, at Garland Chapel, West Parish Congregational Church, Bethel. The course examines personality types using the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory. Crocker said couples may benefit by taking the course together.
