BETHEL – The first spring program of the Western Mountains Senior College will be held on Sunday, April 3, at the Garland Chapel, West Parish Congregational Church, Church Street.

Wendy Iseman, Bethel resident and director of development and public relations at Maine Handicapped Skiing, will speak on her archaeological vacations in the town of Faversham in southeast England where she has spent the last three summers digging up Roman ruins, including a Roman bath, military fort and an agricultural building.

The lecture is the college’s first spring talk for adults over 50 and their spouses who are interested in learning something new in a relax and stimulating environment.

Iseman will speak about the Roman villas located in Faversham, famous for its gunpowder factories and situated on the old Roman road that goes from Dover to London. She will describe how an amateur archaeological dig works and the techniques that are used to find tiles, pottery, bones and other artifacts.

The program is free to members, who are invited to bring friends over age 50 and who may be interested in joining. For more information or to register for the program, call Jackie Cressy at 824-0508.
