RUMFORD – The Angels of Sequoia have purchased reading activity books to support parents in engaging in and strengthen their child’s language and reading skills and facilitate family bonding in a positive learning environment.

Thanks to funding received from the Child Health Center, Oxford County Preschool Enrichment Trust, preschoolers will benefit from the opportunity.

For three years, the Angels of Sequoia have provided local shelters and preschool home visitor programs with community gift baskets that include items such as soaps, combs and toothbrushes and assorted baby items. The baskets also include resource information, handouts, brochures and coupons.

The success of the project has been a collective effort of several individuals and organizations offering items, resource information, funding and support.

“The new books are a wonderful addition to the baskets and will facilitate development of reading and language skills with preschool children and will offer another opportunity to strengthen family bonds,” said Mitzi Sequoia.
