LEWISTON – St. Joseph’s Church will hold Eucharist Adoration from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, with the Rosary to be recited at 10 a.m. The public is invited to offer prayers for Pope John Paul II during this time.

Art auction

NEW GLOUCESTER – A Tsunami Relief Art Auction will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Pineland Farms Visitors Center to benefit the people of Langkawi, Malaysia.

The proceeds from the donated art will be directed through the Unity Rotary Club to help rebuild the homes and livelihoods within the devastated areas of Langkawi. The auction will be conducted by Jim Cyr of Cyr Antiques.

The art can be viewed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 8, and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 9. Pineland Farms is located at 15 Farm View Drive. For more information, call Scott Bevins, Visitors Center director, 688 – 4539.

DAR luncheon

BOWDOIN – Regent Sheila Desgrosseilliers announces that Burnt Meadow, Daughters of the American Revolution, will entertain DAR Good Citizen and Good Citizenship Medal recipients and their parents at a luncheon at noon Saturday, April 9, the home of Mrs. George Byras, Litchfield Road. The guest speaker will be Elizabeth Howe of Penobscot, State DAR Good Citizen chairwoman.

Beginning Saturday, April 9, classes will be offered at 10 and 11 a.m. at the Lepage Conference Center at St. Mary’s. Supper reslated

TURNER – Turner Village Church has rescheduled a baked bean supper and bluegrass/gospel concert with the Laclaire family for Saturday, April 9.

The supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and will be on a donation basis.

The concert will start at 7 p.m. and there will be a free will offering for the Laclaires. The public is welcome to attend both events.

Church speaker

LEWISTON – Evangelist Paul R. Bernard will be the speaker on the absolute requirements needed to participate in receiving communion at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 10, at the Good News Chapel, 2000 Lisbon Road.

Bernard will lecture on the historical and text critical problems with the early church teachings. The sermon will be followed by communion.

Bernard is the director of Maine’s Worldwide Missions Outreach Inc. and has spoken around the country and overseas on health, prophecy, discipleship, the reality of angels and humanitarian work.
