AUBURN – Northeast Bank announces that it has partnered with the Meals on Wheels Program sponsored by SeniorsPlus of Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties to raise funds so “no senior goes hungry.”

Additionally, Northeast Bank has agreed to match all funds raised through the effort. Meals on Wheels vans are available through the Northeast Bank branches in these counties for $1 through April 30.

Susan Goulet, director of marketing and development at SeniorsPlus, said, “Seniors receiving Meals on Wheels are asked to make a donation toward their meal. With the rise in fuel prices, heating costs, medications and real estate taxes, many seniors have tried to cancel their meals – feeling that if they can not make a donation, then they should not receive the meal. And, it has been especially hard for seniors through this harsh snowy winter. We hope to raise enough funds to meet our growing elder population without having to institute a waiting list so no senior goes hungry’.”

“We learned that many people do not know how to make a donation to Meals on Wheels. With the paper Meals on Wheels vans available at our branches we are able to reach active people in our communities,” said Jim Delamater, bank president and CEO.

“It’s our goal to partner with our community programs and social services to meet the basic needs of the people we serve. This program is invaluable to our seniors and the $1 donation goes directly to support our neighbors and friends receiving Meals on Wheels,” he said.

Donations can be made at the following Northeast Bank branch offices: 232 Center St., Auburn; 882 Lisbon St., Lewiston; 26 Pleasant St., Mechanic Falls; 698 Lisbon Road, Lisbon Falls; 11 Main St., Bethel; 2 Depot St., Buckfield; 235 Main St., South Paris; and Main Street, Harrison.
