AUBURN – The Androscoggin County Multiple Sclerosis Walk Committee announces that the Manpower Multiple Sclerosis Walk will be held on Sunday, April 10. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and the walk will start at 9 a.m. at the Lewiston High School.

The walk will include raffle items that have been donated from local merchants, a 50/50 drawing as well as cookbooks and other items that will be available to purchase the day of the walk. Food and drinks will be available free to those who participate.

The opening ceremony will include a brief inspirational message from Marguerite Stapleton. Proclamations will be read from Gov. John Baldacci and Lewiston and Auburn Mayors Lionel Guay and Norman Guay proclaiming April as Multiple Sclerosis Month.

In Maine there are more than 3,000 families affected by MS, with more than 300 families living in Androscoggin County.

The five-mile course will begin at Lewiston High School gym entrance and will cover the Bates College area. Rest stops, which have been sponsored by local merchants, will be available along the course.
