WASHINGTON – Cara E. Pavlak of Auburn was selected as one of the two delegates to the 43rd annual United States Senate Youth Program, dedicated to inspiring future leaders.

In addition to outstanding leadership abilities and a strong commitment to volunteer work, the students rank academically in the top 1 percent of their states. They continue to excel and develop qualities that are often directed toward public service.

As well as the all-expense-paid trip to Washington, each student received a $5,000 college scholarship for undergraduate studies.

Pavlak attends St. Dominic Regional High School. Also chosen was Andrew S. Edwards of Dyer Brook, who attends Southern Aroostook Community High School.

Men and women officers from all branches of the military service escorted the students during their stay in Washington Feb. 26 to March 5.
