LEWISTON – YWCA of Central Maine, 130 East Ave., will hold Try-Me Week April 16 through 24.

The aquatic programs will be offered at a discounted rate during the week.

Open swims will be $1 for members; $4, nonmember; water fitness class, $2 and $5; and Magic YWorld, $1 and $4.

Cemetery group

LISBON FALLS – The West Bowdoin Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, April 17, beginning at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Carl Bickford. There will be an election of officers and for one trustee whose term expires this year.

Other appropriate business will be acted upon.

Interested persons are invited to attend.

Masonic school

WALES – Webster Lodge 164 will host the 23rd District Masonic School of Instruction at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, at 322 Centre Road. A 6:30 supper will held in the dining hall preceding the meeting. All Masonic members are invited.

LEWISTON – One Book/One Community, L-A Reads! community partners invite readers to discuss Barbara Ehrenreich’s “Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America,” a 2001 nonfiction best seller and Notable Book of the Year.

Investigative journalist Ehrenreich combined passion and wit to provide insight into the often invisible workforce that fuels the service economy.

Sodality speaker

LEWISTON – The St. Anne Sodality of Holy Family Parish will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, in the parish hall. Guest speaker will be Edmond Gay, connoisseur of wine. Refreshments will be served.

Society update

POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the Old Schoolhouse, 1229 Maine St., next to the Poland Town Office.

The society is returning to the regular meeting time.

Elliott Levy, executive director of the Poland Spring Preservation Society, will update members on the improvements made to the Maine State Building this winter and what is planned for the Maine State Building and the All Soul’s Chapel during the summer season.

All are welcome. Following the business meeting, refreshments will be served.
