FARMINGTON – Trinity United Methodist Church will hold a benefit supper for missionaries to Uganda from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at the church on Routes 2 and 27.

The missionary is Steve Hoyt, a 1984 graduate of Mount Blue High School and Texas A&M. His focus in Uganda will be to help design schools and churches. Hoyt and his wife, Melinda, and their two daughters will make their home there for at least two years. His work in Uganda is sponsored through Engineering Ministries International.

The menu includes ham, mashed potatoes, peas, cranberry mold salad, homemade biscuits and strawberry shortcake. The cost is $7 per person with children under 5, free.

Society program

NEW VINEYARD – New Vineyard Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the Historical Room. The program topic will be “Browsing.” All are welcome to see what the society has in its file of historical value, photos, family histories, New Vineyard history and artifacts that have been donated. There is a variety of information available in the scrapbooks that were recently given to the society.

Softball games

FARMINGTON – An organizational meeting for anyone interested in playing in a Franklin County Men’s Softball League will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at Front Street Tavern on Front Street. For more information, call Sebastian at 645-3130.
