LEWISTON – Lewiston High School junior Marissa Jalbert received a standing ovation from her peers in Carmen Caouette’s class April 13 when Mayor Lionel C. Guay Jr. and members of the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council surprised her with the April Mayoral Citation of Excellence.

Jalbert was recognized for her exemplary theatrical leadership abilities, and Guay noted, “Congratulations upon recently producing and serving as stage manager for the LHS Center Stage Ensemble’s successful production of Grease.’

“Your previous experience as the youngest person to stage manage for Community Little Theatre indeed served you well, and the Grease’ production clearly demonstrated your creativity, talents and professionalism.”

The citation program is a partnership between the Lewiston Mayor’s Office and the Lewiston Youth Advisory Council, and nominations for the May 2005 Mayoral Citation of Excellence are due in the mayor’s office by no later than May 13.

A one-page nomination of a Lewiston middle school or high school youth must focus on an action or accomplishment deemed as “extraordinary” or “above and beyond” that has occurred within the last two months. Nominations may be sent to Guay, 27 Pine St., Lewiston, or via dottie@ci.lewiston.me.us.
