JAY – Androscoggin Bank officials want to build a full-service bank about a half-mile from its small branch office on Riley Road, officials confirmed this week.
The actual site for the new bank hasn’t been determined, said the bank’s chief marketing officer, David Norburg, on Tuesday. But it’s expected to be in the vicinity of the Jay Plaza on Route 4.
Bank officials met with businessman Bob Bahre of Paris, who has a multiyear agreement to lease the property that the plaza sets on as well as land around it from the town of Jay.
Bahre said Friday he is in talks with the bank and directed inquiries to Androscoggin Bank officials.
Norburg said the size of the bank would be determined by the property chosen, but he estimated the new building would measure between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet.
The new bank will have a customer service desk, three tellers, safe deposit boxes, a commercial loan officer and investment services. The existing bank branch has minimal services, such as check-cashing.
Norburg was unsure when the new bank would open.
