Class luncheon

RUMFORD – The men and women of the Class of 1954 of Stephens High School will meet for a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the River Valley Grill on Exchange Street.

Seniors to meet

DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens will meet on Wednesday, April 20, at the Legion Hall. A baked ham dinner with all the fixings will be prepared and served by members of Post 100 at no cost to the members of Neighborly Senior Citizens.

Entertainment will be provided by Norm and Betty DeCoteau, Just The Two Of Us. Payment is due for the May 19th trip to Indian Head Resort. There are a few seats available. For more information, call Connie at 364-4189.

Auxiliary supper

RUMFORD – The VFW Ladies Auxiliary will have a spaghetti and meatball supper from 4:30 p.m. until sold out Thursday, April 21, at the post on Waldo St. Cost for adults is $6 and children under 12 $3.

Acadian Society

RUMFORD – The regular monthly meeting and potluck supper of the Acadian Society will be held on Thursday, April 21, at the St. Athanasius and St. John Parish Center. The potluck will be at 6 p.m. with the meeting and presentation to follow.

Special guest will be Kristen Belanger, a senior at Mountain Valley High School, who is this year’s recipient of the Dr. Edward Martin Book Award.

Bottle drive

RUMFORD – A bottle drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23 to benefit Mountain Valley Falcon Youth Wrestling program. Proceeds will help with cost of new singlet wrestling uniforms and towards the banquet.

People and bring bottles to Four Corners on behalf of the program or call 364-9077 and someone will make arrangements to pick them up.

CONWAY, N.H. – A Leave No Trace Trainer course will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7, at the White Mountain National Forest. Deadline for registration is April 25. Tuition is $80.

This course is for educators, agency employees, youth leaders and others who value the land and want to teach others how to protect and preserve it. Graduates will receive a Leave No Trace Trainer certificate and will be qualified to teach Leave No Trace skills and ethics to a variety of groups. Instructors will be Jonathan Richardson, National Park Service; and Susie Spruce-Eland, US Forest Service.

RUMFORD – Members of the Stephens High School Class of 1949 will meet for their regular monthly luncheon at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at the River Valley Grill, on Exchange St.

Healthy coalition

RUMFORD – The next monthly Community Networking meeting sponsored by the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition is scheduled for noon on Thursday, April 28. Bring your own lunch. The meeting will be held at Scrappers DoMaine on Canal Street.

Representatives from Rumford Hospital will speak on the renovations to the facility. There will also be updates on other organization’s community activities including programs of the Healthy Communities.
