FARMINGTON – Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments will be conducting a Subdivision Review course for area planning board members and code enforcement officers at Mountain Valley Middle School in Mexico. The course will include four sessions with the first one at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 27.

The first evening, subdivision law will be covered. The second session will focus on improving subdivision design and the protection of natural resources. The third session will focus on water quality criteria in the subdivision law, and the fourth session will walk through the review process as well as discuss criteria that participants have selected for discussion in the previous weeks.

Attendees will receive a collection of background literature, class handouts, and other materials. The course will provide CEOs credits toward recertification.

ATV trails

JAY – The Jay Police Department will soon be patrolling trails in hopes of promoting a safe season for ATV operators on trail ways. ATV users have increased in the area in recent years. Operators are reminded to brush up on rules involving ATVs and landowners.

UMF study

FARMINGTON – The University of Maine in Farmington is looking for participants in a research and field study on the Graduate Record Examination. Candidates should be college juniors or seniors or those planning to attend post-secondary educational institutions.

Testing runs through May 6 and will take place at the Center for Human Development on South Street. Candidates will be paid $35 upon completion of all requirements. Those interested may sign up by calling the UMF Center for Human Development, 778-7034, to schedule a date and time.
