LEWISTON – The United Way of Androscoggin County recently received a $13,883 corporate contribution from GE Consumer and Industrial. In addition, the employees of the Auburn GE facility raised $32,524 in 2004 to provide services and care to the residents of Androscoggin County.

“Funds from GE Consumer and Industrial and its employees in Auburn have helped United Way to continue its mission of increasing the organized capacity of people in Androscoggin County to care for one another,” said Mark Anthoine, United Way’s 2003-2004 campaign chairman and principal of Healey and Associates Inc.

“Their generosity provides much needed support to the various local United Way agencies that are dedicated to assisting people in need. On behalf of the thousands of clients served by these agencies, United Way of Androscoggin County expresses its sincere appreciation to GE and its employees for investing in our local community and helping us to help others,” he said.

“GE and United Way share a commitment to build stronger communities and support the efforts of local nonprofits,” said Joe Spina, human resource manager for GE Consumer and Industrial. “We are a proud United Way partner and strongly support its ongoing efforts.”

GE employees have also supported United Way’s efforts through volunteering in the annual Day of Caring Event. In September 2004, nine employees from GE Consumer and Industrial spent time at the YMCA Camp Connor, helping with repairs, painting and cleaning to prepare the building for children who participate in summer activities.
