ROCKPORT – Bay Chamber Concerts, a year-round chamber music association in Rockport, will hold its annual student prize program with five classical prizes and one jazz prize. Each winner will receive a $1,000 award and perform in a public concert on stage at the Rockport Opera House in August.

Applications must be received by May 2. Bay Chamber encourages Maine residents between ages 12 and 25 who are serious in their study and performance of jazz or classical music to apply. The six classical prizes cover voice, piano, woodwinds, brass and strings. Applicants for the Nathan Corning jazz prize may be individuals or ensembles of any instrumentation.

Auditions are by invitation only, after review of all applications and audition tapes. They will be held at the Rockport Opera House Saturday, June 18, for the classical prizes, and Saturday, June 25, for the jazz prize.
