BRYANT POND – Oxford Pomona Grange met at Franklin Grange 124 recently and conferred degrees on candidates.

State Grange Pomona Vicki Huff, state legislative chairman Wayne Sherman Jr., committee chairwoman Norma Meserve, youth committee chairman Steven Haycock were recognized as special guests.

Resolutions of respect were read for Gordon Abbott and Richard Walker Jr. Abbott had been the assistant steward before his sudden death so it was necessary to elect someone to replace him. Peter Haines was voted into that office and he was installed by Vicki Huff.

Peggy Blake of the Pomona scholarship reported that she has not had any applicants for some time. The scholarship is in the amount of $50 and is meant for a Grange member or a student whose parent or grandparent is a fairly long standing member. The applicant must have completed one semester of college and be enrolled for the next semester.

The next meeting is scheduled for May 3 at Bear Mountain Grange 29 in South Waterford with a 6:30 potluck supper preceding the 7:30 meeting. All winners of the local molasses cookies contests are to bring them to this meeting for judging at the Pomona level.
