MEXICO – A Mexico man was arrested on drug charges after police showed up with a search warrant Monday afternoon.
Mexico Police Chief James Theriault said Ricky A. Davis, 47, of 3 Brigham St., was charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, possession of a useable amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $1,200 unsecured bail and is to be arraigned June 7 in 11th District Court at Rumford.
Theriault said the arrest was the result of several months of investigation.
Armed with a search warrant to look for prescription drugs, Theriault and Patrolman Roy Hodsdon, Rumford detectives Lt. Stacy Carter and Sgt. George Cayer, and Oxford County Sheriff’s Deputy Chancey Libby entered Davis’ home at 2:15 p.m.
During the two-hour search, police seized an unidentified amount of prescription drugs and a 12-gauge shotgun, Theriault said.
Davis, he added, was charged with the Class A felony count of aggravated trafficking for allegedly dealing drugs within 1,000 feet of Meroby Elementary School.
Pending conviction, Class A crimes in Maine carry a maximum prison term of 40 years.
