FRYEBURG – The Fryeburg Fish and Game Association members heard a talk by David Drexel, a registered Maine guide and Maine ambassador of the Hunt of a Lifetime Foundation Inc., at a recent meeting.

The foundation enables youngsters suffering from a fatal disease to enjoy a big game hunt of their dreams. Drexel showed a video of several hunts. Persons wishing to make a contribution to the foundation should contact association president Jim Holt at 935-2625.

During the election of officers, Jim Holt was re-elected president; David Lyons, vice president; Don Wentworth, secretary; and Robert Sanderson, treasurer. Re-elected to serve as directors were: one year, Edward Holt Jr., Warren Richardson, Norman Sanderson; two years, Raymond Wentworth, Fred Westerberg, Sam Noftle; and new directors for three years, Roy Andrews, Bob Hatch and Bob Wallstrom.

Holt announced there are still vacancies in the personal protection course that will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1, taught by Ian Tait, an NRA personal protection course instructor. Persons seeking more information can contact Holt.

Holt announced that the association now has a Web site that explains the mission of the group and activities: www.fryeburgfishandgame.com.

One such activity will be Fish and Game Day on July 9 at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds. Members and folks interested in outdoor doings can bring family and friends to the fairgrounds for games, demonstrations, conversation and food.

Member Bob Hatch will demonstrate fly-fishing and member Bob Wallstrom Jr. will demonstrate the use of the map and compass.

The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 2, at the Fryeburg Fire Station. Anyone with an interest in hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities is welcome.
