PARIS – At a recent Rotary meeting, President Patty Rice introduced guest speakers Jeanie Stone and Shari Smith from REACH, the Rape Education and Crisis Hotline.

REACH was started in 1981 to support victims and survivors of sexual assault. The program is a state and local resource with funding coming from federal and state government plus the United Way of Oxford County and area towns.

Last year, REACH responded to more than 530 calls through their hotline, served 160 individuals, plus provided countless other support activities and provided 3,000 students with educational information.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness month and REACH has been sponsoring a variety of activities and special events. There will be a benefit fashion show on Thursday, April 28 at the Four Seasons Function Center in South Paris. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the REACH office in South Paris. To find out more about REACH www.reachmaine.org, call 743-9777 or stop by their office in Market Square, South Paris.
