Historical society

FRYEBURG – The Oxford County Bicentennial Quilt will be featured at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at a meeting of the Fryeburg Historical Society at the American Legion Hall, Bradley Street. Quilters contributed squares that represent many Oxford County towns. Fryeburg’s square by Pat Anderton depicts western hero “Hopalong Cassidy,” the character created by local author Clarence Mulford.

Larry Glatz of the Oxford County Historical Society will talk about the quilt and the bicentennial celebration June 11 at Paris Hill. For more information, call Director Nancy Ray at 935-4192 or 935-8076.

HEBRON – Hebron Academy will hold admissions information sessions for students and parents interested in the academy’s program for grades six through 12 or a post-graduate year. The sessions will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on May 3 and 17, June 7 and 21, July 12 and 26 in the art gallery on campus.
