FARMINGTON – National Day of Prayer will be observed Thursday, May 5, with a noontime prayer ceremony that is open to the public. For the second year in a row the National Day of Prayer will also be observed in Wilton.

This year’s observance will take place at the Gazebo in Meeting House Park and at the Gazebo at Bass Park at the head of Wilson Lake in Wilton. Both events begin at noon.

The ceremony will feature the reading of the proclamation of the governor, a color guard, music, a short message on the theme and various prayers offered by community members. The theme for the National Day of Prayer this year is “God Shed His Grace on Thee.”

The National Day of Prayer is an annual event established by an act of Congress, which encourages Americans to pray for our nation, its people, and its leaders. For more information about local events, contact Bernadette Harvell at 778-2981.
