OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, at the Kay House meeting room on Pleasant Street.

A program by Dr. Lawrence Murch on the construction of his new barn in East Oxford will follow the meeting. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.

Catholic women

NORWAY – The Maine Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will hold its state convention Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, at the Norway Armory.

Linda Jack of Norway, Maine Council president, is inviting anyone interested to join them in the 5 p.m. Mass at St. Catherine’s Church, Friday, April 29.

The Most Rev. Richard J. Malone, Bishop of Portland, will preside. Ellen Bachman, Region 3 vice president of the National Council of Catholic Women, will be a guest and keynote speaker at the convention.

Sunday leader

PARIS – Sharon Bouchard will be the worship leader at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 1. The music will be under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist.

The Sunday school will directed by Renee Wales. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Basket bingo

OXFORD – A Longaberger Basket Bingo will be held to benefit the Responsible Pet Care Shelter of Norway at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at the Oxford Legion Hall, junction of Route 121 and Skeetfield Road. Doors will open at 11 a.m.

Tickets are $10. The event will include special games, raffle baskets, door prizes and refreshments. For more information or advanced tickets, call 743-8679.
