LIVERMORE FALLS – The Healthy Community Coalition will offer a special screening day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 10. Women will be able to schedule a mammogram at Franklin Memorial Hospital or have one appointment at Franklin Memorial Outpatient Services in Livermore Falls for a physical and mammogram.

Every woman who attends the breast and cervical health screening will receive a light breakfast/snack and a $20 gift certificate to Hannaford Supermarket.

Maine women 40 and older who have no insurance or whose insurance does not cover annual mammograms or pap tests or women who have a high deductible may qualify to receive free services. All local women are welcome to participate in the screening.

Women attending will also receive a free bone density or cholesterol screening. HCC’s Sandy Richard, RN, will use the Achilles Express ultrasonometer to conduct the bone density screening. The screening involves placing a bare heel in the ultrasound machine. Osteoporosis is the loss of bone mass and thinning of bones which cause a decrease in bone strength.

The event is sponsored by the Healthy Community Coalition with funding from the Maine Breast and Cervical Health Program and the Avon Foundation Breast Care Fund.
