AUBURN – Maine Educational Opportunity Center will hold a college planning workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 5, with Adviser Christy Le at Central Maine Community College, 312 Jalbert Hall.

Another workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, with Le at the Lewiston Career Center, 5 Mollison Dr., Lewiston.

The workshops are free. To register, people should call 1-800-281-3703. Adults considering college are invited to participate.

Unlike student financial aid programs, which help students overcome financial barriers to higher education, the center has been providing support services to help students from low income and working families enter college since 1991.

It helps adult students to overcome class, social, academic and cultural barriers. Services include assistance in choosing a college, tutoring, personal and financial counseling, career counseling, assistance in applying to college, workplace and college visits, and assistance in applying for financial aid.
