RUMFORD – Mountain Valley High School will present Night of the Arts on Thursday, May 5. The art exhibit will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. and a jazz band concert will begin at 6.

Day of prayer

RUMFORD – There will be a National Day of Prayer observance from 12:30 to 12:40 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Memorial Park at the end of Congress Street. Area pastors will meet informally in a circle to pray for the nation and the leaders of the River Valley communities.

The observance will coincide with many other prayer observances and rallies all over the nation. The public is welcome to participate and can call 364-8712 for more information.

Art exhibit

RUMFORD – The Pennacook Art Center May show features paintings and photographs of flowers. The opening reception will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 6. The center is located at 82 Congress St. For more information, call 364-9972.

Circle meeting

RUMFORD – St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the Parish Center. Committee will be Pearl Murphy, Frances Kersey, Joan Lepage, Kay Lawler and Debbie Laurinaitis.

Lawyer speaks

MEXICO – Paul R. Dumas Jr. was one of two lawyers who spoke at the University of Maine School of Law in Portland on April 13. Dumas discussed the basics of civil personal injury practice, with emphasis on some of the practical skills needed by a new lawyer doing civil litigation and personal injury work.

Dumas has practiced personal injury law in Maine since 1973 and has offices in Mexico. He is on the Maine Trail Lawyers Association advisory board. A 1973 graduate of Boston University Law School, he is on staff at the Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyo. Dumas lives in Mexico with his wife, Cynthia.
