SOUTH PARIS – Darcy Herrick belted a two-run double in the sixth inning to spark Oxford Hills to a 5-1 victory over Morse in KVAC softball action Wednesday.
Samantha Dolloff also smashed a double for the Vikings (5-2), while Natasha Dubois tallied two hits.
Jill Henrikson handled pitching duties for the Shipbuilders (0-6), allowing nine hits.
Lisbon 14, Dirigo 1
DIXFIELD – Belle Mathieu launched a three-run home run in the seventh inning to cap a Lisbon 14-1 victory over Dirigo in MVC softball action Wednesday.
The Greyhounds (4-3) took advantage of an error-prone Dirigo team with four runs in the second inning and another pair in the fifth, to open up a 10-0 lead after five.
Meghan Russell, who was 2-for-3 for Dirigo, scored on freshman Brittney Palmer’s sacrifice fly in the seventh for the Cougars (1-5).
Mt. Abram 12, Winthrop 0
WINTHROP — Katie Walker struck out 10 and walked two batters over six innings to lead Mt. Abram to a 12-0 shutout over Winthrop in an MVC softball game Wednesday.
Walker also went 4-for-4, with a triple and three RBIs to spark the Roadrunners (4-2).
Jill Ouellette was saddled with the mound loss for Winthrop (0-4).
Lawrence 7, Edward Little 1
AUBURN – Kiera Walsh scattered three hits and received some good support at the plate as Lawrence rolled over Edward Little 7-1 in a KVAC softball contest Wednesday.
Courtney Danforth led the Bulldogs (5-2) with two hits and two RBIs, while Kasey McPhail contributed with a pair of hits. Katelyn Chamberlain handled pitching duties for the Red Eddies (2-4), allowing eight hits in seven innings to take the loss. Lawrence scored three runs in the fifth inning, then added two more in the seventh for insurance.
Georges Valley 14, Mtn. Valley 2
RUMFORD – Heather Watts helped her two-hit pitching effort with a double, triple and two RBIs to propel Georges Valley to a 14-2 triumph over Mountain Valley in MVC softball action Wednesday.
Watts struck out four over six innings for the Buccaneers (5-0), while the catcher Desiree Smith contributed a double and single. Kaitlyn Drury had one of the two hits by the Falcons (2-3) in her first varsity game.
St. Dom’s 15, Traip 0
KITTERY – Emily Goss threw a one-hitter Wednesday as St. Dom’s cruised past Traip 15-0.
The Saints (4-0) put nine runs on the board in the first inning and coasted home from there. Traip (0-5) pitcher Jen Kuehl was a little wild, as six runs scored on bases-loaded walks. The victory was Goss’s third of the young season.
MCI 13, Oak Hill 0
WALES – Jordan Kennedy tossed a no-hitter Wednesday and received strong support at the plate as MCI outgunned Oak Hill 13-0 in KVAC softball action.
Ashley Currier led MCI with two hits, highlighted by a double, while Kasey Dodge added two hits and two RBIs.
Danni Potvin handled pitching duties for the Raiders (1-4), allowing 13 hits in six innings.
Monmouth 14, Hall-Dale 11
MONMOUTH — Trista Morin drove in two runs and Brittney Hilton also had an RBI for Monmouth, which squeezed past Hall-Dale 14-11 in MVC softball play Wednesday.
Kayla Chick walked three batters and struck out five to earn the win on the mound for the Mustangs (4-1).
Chelsie Dionne had an RBI double for the Bulldogs (0-4) in the losing effort.
Girls’ lacrosse
Hebron 14, Tilton 10
HEBRON – Jill Maclsaac and Taylor Fey scored five goals apiece as Hebron cruised to a 14-10 win over Tilton in girls’ lacrosse action Wednesday.
The Huskies (5-2) took a commanding 10-4 lead into intermission.
Jen Brager and Danielle Robinson tallied a hat trick each for Tilton (1-6).
Tilton applied a little more offensive pressure in the second half, outscoring Hebron 6-4 in the frame.
