OTISFIELD – The Oxford County Emergency Management Agency will conduct a homeland security and mass casualty exercise from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 14, on Powhatan Road from the Route 121 intersection to Scribner Hill Road intersection.

The area will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to noon. The exercise will involve eight fire departments, eight rescue agencies, four law enforcement agencies, the county’s decontamination strike team and regional response team, Stephens Memorial Hospital and student volunteers from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

The exercise will test the capabilities of local fire, rescue and police agencies to respond to a mass casualty incident.

There will be a great deal of emergency vehicle traffic on Route 121 from Spurr’s Corner through the Scribner Hill Road intersection. Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible and exercise caution if it is necessary to drive through the area. Anyone wanting more information should call the agency at 743-6336.
