PERU – The Peru Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the Rockemeka Grange Hall. There will be a short business meeting followed by a tasting party of “historic” recipes, if possible. Members are asked to bring a dish to taste plus several copies of the recipe. The meeting is open to the public.
Elks breakfast
RUMFORD – The Rumford Elks will hold the annual Mother’s Day service on Sunday, May 15, as the state convention is being held on Mother’s Day weekend.
Dick Welch and kitchen crew will serve breakfast souffle, French toast, sausage patties, coffee, tea and juice. It is asked that patrons go to the side entrance on Exchange Street. Mom’s eat for free; all others pay $3.

Women’s network
PARIS – The Maine Women’s Network will meet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the Smilin’ Moose Publyck House and Tavern.
The program topic will be “Give ’em a Pickle!,” explaining what great customer service, internal and external, is all about. Cost is $5 for members; $8, others, payable at the door. Preregister at www.WMWN.org.
