Dear Sun Spots: Calling all artists! The Androscoggin Children’s Advocacy Center encourages artists who paint furniture to exhibit their creative work in our first “Chair-ity Auction” to be held Aug. 5 at the Martindale Country Club, Auburn. Guests will enjoy a buffet dinner, and children’s chairs will be sold in a live auction. Proceeds from the event will go to the children’s advocacy center, a nonprofit program, which serves child abuse victims in Androscoggin County.
Artists are invited to volunteer and paint a child’s chair for the live auction. The chairs will be provided. Just bring your creative inspiration.
“Share your talent and help victims of child abuse!” she says.
The chairs will be on display in the Lewiston-Auburn area in July. Please call Bridget at (207) 784-0436 if you can help. – Bridget O’Rourke, Lewiston.
Dear Sun Spots: Thanks for helping me on my last request. I need your help again, I have the canvas for latch-hook rugs, but I cannot find any of the yarn to make the rug. The yarn I need is for latch-hook rugs, pieces about 2½ inches in length. I can’t find it locally, but was wondering if any of your readers might have some that they no longer have use for. Any color. It doesn’t matter. I’ll take all or whatever you choose to send me. You can send it to Rita Giardin, P.O. Box 351, Dixfield, ME 04224. I can be reached at (207) 562-7450 if you want me to pick up the yarn. Thank you for your help. Keep up the good work. This is a very helpful column. Thanks.- Rita Giardin, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: We would like to write to Brad Pitt and ask for an autographed picture. Could you please send us an address where we can write to him. Thanks. – No Name, No Town.
Answer: Try contacting him at: Brad Pitt, c/o CAA, 9830 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills, CA 90212. Or also through Special Artist Agency, 345 N. Maple Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.
If you want to request an autograph, send a properly stamped and self addressed envelope (minimum size 8.5 by 4 inches) with your request letter and a photo. You can include a piece of cardboard to keep the photo from bending in shipping and also add “Do Not Bend” on the envelopes. Send your letter and wait. On average, there is going to be a three-month wait or more for a response.
This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name (we won’t use it if you ask us not to). Letters will not be returned or answered by mail, and telephone calls will not be accepted. Your letters will appear as quickly as space allows. Address them to Sun Spots, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be posted at www.sunjournal.com in the Advice section under Opinion on the left-hand corner of your computer screen.
