LEWISTON – Marianne Ireland of Lewiston was recently recognized by Common Ties Mental Health Coalition for her leadership of the agency as president.

Ireland, director of customer service for the Sun Journal, has served on board of directors since 2000, serving two years as its president.

Current President Denise Simard stated at the annual meeting, “We thank you for being the extraordinary person that you are and for believing in the mission of Common Ties.”

Simard presented a plaque to Ireland that reads, “Blessed is the leader who seeks the best for those she serves and who invites them on a journey.”

Ireland oversaw a number of developments in the agency during her leadership tenure, including a strategic planning process, a self-evaluation of the board of directors, a human resource development plan and the strengthening of the board in the public policy debate.

Common Ties Mental Health provides community living services for persons who have a mental health illness. The agency is located at 100 Pine St. and can be reached at 795-6044.
