AUBURN — Brian Erickson drove in three runs to lead Edward Little to an easy 12-4 victory over Medomak Valley in KVAC baseball action Saturday.

Steve Simpson (1-1) pitched six solid innings to notch the win for the Red Eddies (7-3), holding the Panthers to four runs.

Edward Little entered the bottom of the fifth inning trailing 4-2 but exploded for seven runs, thanks in part to doubles by Justin Ciszewski, Tyler Dorris and Matt Nadeau. Kevin Pontbriand chipped in with a triple.

Jared Simmons smashed a two-run home run for the Panthers (2-8).

Lacrosse
Lewiston 12, Deering 10

PORTLAND – Kelsey Varney scored Lewiston’s first three goals to send the Blue Devils to a 12-10 triumph over Deering in girls’ lacrosse action Saturday..

Lewiston (6-2) built a 6-3 lead, only to have the Rams (2-4) rally to tie the game by halftime. The Devils extended the lead back to three goals before holding off the Rams.

Caitlin Anthoine, Marina MacDonald and Luca Jacobsen scored two goals apiece for Lewiston, while Mallory Long chipped in with four assists. Mary Leblanc stopped seven shots in net.

Abby Walton led Deering with a hat trick.

Medomak Valley 11, Edward Little 1

AUBURN — Melissa Bradstreet had a double and a triple – the only extra base hits of the game for either team – to lead Medomak Valley to an 11-1 rout of Edward Little in KVAC softball action Saturday.

Kendra Butcher was saddled with the loss for Edward Little (2-7), giving up eight runs over a span of three innings.
