PARIS – Six students from Oxford Hills Technical School made good when they took home gold medals at the Maine State SkillsUSA Leadership Conference in March.

Seniors Brandon Atkinson, Alan Reid, Jesse Strauss and Derek Bruno, junior Wade Morrissette and post-secondary Joshua Chaplin were among the gold medal winners. All are headed for Kansas City, Mo., on June 20 to 25 to compete in the National SkillsUSA Leadership Conference to represent the state.

Jesse Strauss and Alan Reid are in advanced communications and are competing in 3-D Visual. Derek Bruno is in computer-aided drafting and will compete in technical drafting. Joshua Chaplin will also be competing in technical drafting in the post-secondary division.

Brandon Atkinson is in graphic arts and will compete in graphic communications. Wade Morrissette is in auto collision and will compete in auto collision repair.

The students need to raise approximately $8,500. Upcoming events will include Grilling for Dollars on Friday, May 13, at L.F. Pike and Sons. Any donations will be appreciated and can be sent to Oxford Hills Technical School, P.O. Box 313 Norway, ME 04268 c/o SkillsUSA.
