AUBURN – A Maine Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the Woodbury Brackett Environmental Center as part of the 2005 Community Lecture Series.

David Ladd will present a program on “Native Songbirds: Identification and Ecology.” The program is free and open to the public.

Ladd was interviewed on National Public Radio for a story about bird identification in the northeast. A respected “birder” with a wealth of experience, Ladd has traveled across North America to identify and add songbirds to his expanding personal life list.

He will walk the audience through the diverse habitat around the Brackett Environmental Center, in search of woodland, open meadow and wetland songbirds of the area. He will also share his extensive collection of photos.

Locally produced refreshments will be served. For information and directions, see www.MaineVolunteerLakeMonitors.org or call 783-7733.
