POLAND SPRING – The Poland Spring Preservation Society will open May 21 and 22 for a season full of activities.

The Nettie Ricker Art Gallery in the Maine State Building will feature the works of area youth artists. Billed as Poland Appreciation Day, admission to the historic building will be free on May 21 and feature an exhibition of quilts by the Chickadee Quilters of Bridgton.

Many of the popular exhibits in the Maine State Building have been enhanced and expanded, including the “golf room,” the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair exhibition, and the Ricker family memorabilia collection.

The society is preparing for a Caddy Camp Reunion from June 27 to July 1 for anyone who worked as a caddy at the Poland Spring Resort golf course and who attended the training camp. If area residents are aware of caddy alumni, please ask them to call the society for more information.

In July, the society will host four performances of “Shakespeare in the Round,” featuring the Duncan Inches. These programs will be held at 2 and 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, July 7 and 8. Tickets are $5 each in advance and $7 at the door (if available).

July 23, the society will host its Second Annual Art Show at Poland Spring Resort next to the Maine State Building.

For information on all of these events, to buy tickets for Shakespeare in the Round, or to register for the Art Show, call (207) 998-4142.
