RANGELEY – ACME Productions will hold auditions for “Footloose” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, at the Barn. The play has something for everyone.

Performances are scheduled for Monday through Thursday, July 18 to 21, at the Clubhouse.

Rehearsals will begin June 1 and there will be two music rehearsals a week until school is out. Once school is out there will be four to five rehearsals a week. Not everyone needs to be at every rehearsal. Volunteers are needed for costumes, sets, lighting, sound and ticket sales.

Church sale

FARMINGTON – A massive yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Route 2.

There will be tools, bandsaw table saws, power tools, furniture, love seat, recliner, bureaus, beds, tables, a 1969 Dodge Dart, books, cassette tapes, videos, exercise bikes, and dehumidifiers. Food will be available, such as Olive’s famous dogs, baked goods and pastries. For more information about the car, call 778-9500.

Final supper

NEW SHARON – The final supper of the season will being held at the New Sharon United Methodist Church annex from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28. The menu will include baked beans/casseroles, salads, coleslaw, chop suey, hot rolls, pie and coffee. The price is $6 for adults and $2 for children under 12. The supper is sponsored by the Woman’s Society of the church.

Chorale concert

JAY – A spring chorale concert will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Jay Middle School. The concert will feature the high school, seventh and eighth grade chorus, fifth and sixth grade chorus and a joint chorus.

Two events

INDUSTRY – Two events will be held Saturday, May 28, at the Industry Town Hall. A plant sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., then a baked bean and casserole supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The meal will benefit the Starks/West Mills churches.

Town yard sale

STRONG – A town-wide yard sale will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 28, to benefit the Strong Area Business and Civic Alliance. They are earning funds to help with prizes and other expenses for their July 2 town parade. Rain date is May 29.

Tables will be set up at EJ’s Market, the American Legion Field, Elm Crest Enterprises (located a mile south on Route 4) and other locations on Main Street.

Donation drop-offs of clean and “in good condition” items can be arranged by calling Heidi Richards at 684-2073. Unsold items will go to the Economic Ministry or the Farmington Thrift Shop.

Paddle Fest

STRONG – The Sandy River Paddle Fest 2005, sponsored by the Strong Area Business and Civic Alliance and No Umbrella paddling enthusiasts’ magazine, will be held Saturday, June 4.

Participants will paddle down the Sandy River starting at the bridge in Strong with a midpoint stop at Fairbanks Bridge, then on to the final point at the DHS pull-out at Routes 2 and 4 in Farmington.

Participants may arrive at Sandy River Bridge at 8 a.m. for coffee, homemade doughnuts and muffins. The launch will take place at 9 a.m.

A noon stop at Fairbanks Bridge will include whitewater rafting, canoe and kayak demos and other fun things. Northern Lights in Farmington and the Ski Depot in Jay will have a variety of items to try.

The town taxi will run a shuttle all day with a minimal cost, or participants may organize their own carpool. Bring a lunch, snacks and safety equipment.
