LISBON – Alma Lea’s Dance Competition Teams of Lisbon traveled to the Starquest Dance Competition in Concord, N.H., recently. They competed alongside dance teams from all over New England.

The Senior, Intermediate and Junior Teams competed with three numbers each in ballet, tap and jazz/hip hop. Also featured were special dances choreographed by Alma Lea Pace and Missy Perron, which were performed by members of the Senior Team. Nicole Bramlett, Ashley Bouyea and Jami Racine, all of the Senior Team, presented solos.

The Junior Team brought home silver, high silver and gold medals, special judges’ award for ballet performance and high score large group in the Recreational Division.

The Intermediate Team received three high gold awards for ballet, tap and jazz performances, a special judges’ award for a ballet dance and fourth place in the high score category for a ballet routine.

The Senior Team received a high silver, high gold for tap and jazz and a platinum, the highest award given, for a ballet performance. They also won a special award for their lyrical ballet dance.

The Seniors special lyrical number, “Via DeLaRosa,” received a high gold medal. Solo awards were presented to Nicole Bramlett, who received a High Gold for her performance in the open category.

Ashley Bouyea received a High Gold Medal for her lyrical performance and also obtained second place in her age division. Jami Racine was awarded a Gold Medal for her lyrical dance to “If I Ain’t Got You.”

Alma Lea’s Dance Studio’s next performance will be the annual recital on Sunday, May 29, at the Orion Theater, Mt. Ararat Middle School in Topsham. There will be two performances that day, 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Call the studio, on Moody Road, at 353-22743 for ticket information.
