WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Children of the American Revolution, CAR, announced that Adam Bartow, a national chairman, was awarded President George Bush’s Volunteer Service Award Medal, issued by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.
Established in 2003, the award is given to those who have demonstrated exemplary citizenship through volunteering. An Ithaca College student, Bartow has been in charge of a national CAR project to encourage voting, youth participation in the voting process and patriotic observance and remembrance.
This included developing promotion materials for the 2004 election and non-presidential election years, several school assembly programs for patriotic observance, registering adults to vote, and obtaining the pledges for Americans to vote.
Bartow, 21, has been an active community volunteer for many years and it is not unusual to find him raising funds for a children’s program for a state park, teaching Sunday school, coaching youth soccer or shoveling snow for people in his community.
Bartow is a 2002 graduate of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School and will graduate from Ithaca College in 2006 with a degree in broadcast journalism. He is the son of Ken and Polly Bartow of Otisfield.
