RUMFORD – Rumford Lodge of Elks 862 members recently attended the Maine Elks Convention in Augusta.

Attending were Exalted Ruler Sandee Welch, Richard Welch, David and Debi Briggs, David and Barbara Fitzpatrick, Richie and Tammy Philbrick, Jim and Ann White and Don Richard.

Rumford came home with several awards. The lodge received first place, Youth Activities Booklet for lodges with 301 to 500 members; Best Youth Program in Central District; Best Public Relations Program; overall winner, Americanism Program; first, Division II, All American Lodge; and Best Drug Awareness Program for lodges with 301 to 500 members.

Debi Briggs received Best Youth Activities Chairman for her dedication and loyalty to Elkdom; Public Relations Chairman of the Year; and a plaque for participation in the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

Sandee Welch received the Veteran Volunteer Award for unselfishly working with and for the nation’s veterans. Melissa Letarte received a plaque for her sponsor donation of $1,000 for her charitable volunteer service during the year.
