GREENE – Two area students have been nominated for “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges,” a program that recognizes outstanding students on college campuses across the United States.

Catherine M. Johnston of Greene is a senior at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass. She is majoring in psychology with a minor in Italian, expecting to graduate with a B.A. in May.

Besides being on the dean’s list for every semester, she is in the National Honor Society in psychology (Psi Chi), concert choir president, resident adviser (three years) and involved with music ministry, liturgical choir, dramatic society and the Leadership, Education and Development Program board.

Johnston has returned from a week’s retreat in Italy where she followed the monastic studies of St. Augustine. Her trip included travel between Milan and Rome, where she visited monasteries, historic sites and the Vatican.

She is a 2001 graduate of Leavitt Area High School and is the daughter of Carroll and Debbie Johnston of Greene.

Heather J. Asquith of Greene is a senior at St. Michael’s College in Colchester, Vt. She is majoring in theater arts with a minor in business, expecting to graduate with a B.A. in May.

Asquith just finished directing and producing the first all-student production at the Mainstage Theater of “Into the Woods.” She is also a dean’s list student and has been a journalist for a school publication, “Dateline SMC.” She interned for two summers in the Mainstage Playhouse.

A 2001 graduate of Leavitt Area High School, she is the daughter of Kathi Asquith of Greene.
