FARMINGTON – Irving Oil will team up with law enforcement officers to “Fuel the Dreams” of Special Olympics athletes. On Memorial Day weekend, Irving will donate 5 cents for every gallon of gasoline sold from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 28, is “To Serve and Protect” Day.

Irving will donate to the law enforcement torch run, a Special Olympics fund-raiser. In addition, as part of “To Serve and Protect” law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes, coaches and Irving employees will pump gas, wash windshields and greet customers.

JAY – The Jay Historical Society met on May 19 at the Jay Community Building. Guest speaker was Stephen Scharoun, project director of historical archaeology at the University of Maine at Farmington.

The annual open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Jay Historical House on Jay Hill. A large garage sale is being planned. Anyone having items to donate should call Marlene Landus, 897-3501, or Sherry Judd, 897-3117.
