LITCHFIELD – The seventh graders in Lucy Rioux’s accelerated reading/language arts classroom at the Carrie Ricker Middle School interviewed two “senior citizens” from Lewiston, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Boisvert, as part of their unit study from the novel by Paul Zindel, “The Pigman.”

The interview was designed to help the students achieve a better understanding of what “old age” is really about.

The students created the questions for the interview, which included such things as “What advice would you give to young people today?” and “What do you see as your greatest accomplishments thus far?”

From the interview. along with others, the students were expected to do an oral presentation of what “old age” means to them and how their original impressions might have been affected by what they heard from the interviews.
