LEWISTON – Lewiston Firefighters Association Local 785 present a $1,000 gift to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Journey of Hope Capital Campaign recently.

“We are honored to be a part of such a worthy project as the hospice house. Our donation to the hospice house was achieved through the association’s Community Benefit Fund, which was established in 1996 as a way of giving back to the areas where our members live and work. To date, this is the association’s largest single donation. It truly signifies our support for this project and our commitment to the local community,” said Rick Cailler, president, Local 785.

The 14-patient suite facility is specially designed to care for the needs of patients in the final weeks of life when hospice care at home is no longer possible. AHCH will welcome the first hospice house patient in the fall.

“We sincerely appreciate the support and commitment of the Lewiston Firefighters Association Local 785 to this project,” said Kim Wettlaufer, campaign chairman. “We know the association receives requests for support for many worthy projects; we are grateful for their support.”

The Lewiston Firefighters Association is an affiliate of the International Association of Firefighters and represents the members of the Lewiston Fire Department.
