RICHMOND – Memorial Day activities will begin at 7 a.m. Monday, May 30, as the American Legion Post 132 starts the day off by visiting the Cotton/Richmond Cemetery, Route 197.

The procession will continue on to Evergreen Cemetery, then to Forest Hill Cemetery and Pioneer Cemetery in Dresden, Maxwell, Village, Bayview and the unnamed cemetery on the White Road, all in Bowdoinham.

The parade will form at 10 a.m. at the Richmond Business Park and set off with two bands and participants at 11. The parade will commence at the Fort Richmond Park where a 30-minute memorial service will be conducted.

At each of the cemeteries, the color guard, firing squad and two buglers will perform, the chaplain will offer prayers and wreaths will be laid in memorium.

At the waterfront, the same performance will be done with the laying of a wreath at the monument, and one placed in the Kennebec River in memory of those lost at sea. Col. Arnold Lundquist of the Maine Army National Guard will be the keynote speaker. All participants are invited to the American Legion Post Home on the Carding Machine Road for refreshments after the parade.
