NEW SHARON – Long Meadow Farm will host several events this summer.

The Tiny Hooves Miniature Horse Club, open to people of all ages who are interested in miniature horses, donkeys and mules, is planning several raffles, a lawn sale, a show and several other activities.

Barbara McAvoy is the president, assisted by Brenda Pierce, vice president. Lee Thomas serves as secretary, while Debbie White Dodge keeps track of the club’s finances as treasurer.

Long Meadow will hold an Open Miniature and Pony Show on Saturday, June 11, for any breed, registered or unregistered, under the 58-inch height limit. Classes will include halter, jumping-in-hand, obstacles, driving and riding.

July 30 will mark Long Meadow’s third annual Medieval Event featuring a horse competition. The Ring Tilt, Behead the Monster, and Deliver the Scroll are some of the challenges offered. There will be several driving challenges and a stick horse competition.

Kids of all ages are invited to dress themselves and their hobby horses and join the costume parade, over an obstacle course and through the ring tilt course. There will be prizes for all entries.

The Neville Co. of Brunswick, a group practiced in the art of sword fighting on foot, will give demonstrations throughout the day. Other clubs and vendors are welcome to create a Medieval Marketplace.

The annual Trail Ride and Drive for Operation Santa Claus will be held Oct. 1. Participants are asked to donate a new pair of pajamas and slippers to add to a child or elderly adult’s holiday. A potluck picnic and equestrian-themed games will follow.

Anyone wishing more information about events or the Tiny Hooves Miniature Horse Club should call 778-3238 and ask for Sonja. Although some of the events have an entry fee for participants and exhibitors, it is free for spectators.
