PARIS – Floyd A. Harlow Post 9787, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Auxiliary of South Paris held installation of officers on May 4 following a catered ham supper.

Installing officer for the auxiliary was Betty Houle, past department president. Installed were: president, Eula Felker; junior vice president, Lillian Herrick; secretary, June Wing; treasurer, Lori Macleod; and chaplain, Lula Meserve. Senior Vice President Donna Wing will be installed at a later date.

The next scheduled meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 1. Members are asked to bring a casserole or dessert.

All Veterans of Foreign Wars members and their spouses are welcome.

Home days

PARIS – The West Paris Old Home Days Committee is looking for old cars and trucks for the parade on Saturday, June 4. Marchers will line up at 9 a.m. on Briggs Street, first street on left coming in from Route 26.

A car show will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at the Agnes Gray School. For more information, call Kevin Waterhouse at 674-2973. There will be awards for all classes.

Pies are needed for the pie contest on Sunday. For more information, call Ted and Betty Jones at 674-2507.

Call for quilts

NORWAY – The Second Congregational Church, UCC of Norway will hold its annual Lobster Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9, and a quilt show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

Quilters who would like to display their handmade quilts are welcome. There is no entrance fee. The church is hoping to have many participants with quilts of all sizes and designs. The quilts will be handled with care.

If interested in displaying quilts in the church sanctuary during the lobster luncheon the week of the Downtown Art Festival, contact Bethany Allen, show coordinater, at 743-7297 or at bethany@megalink.net for the details. Transfer change

NORWAY – The Norway-Paris Transfer Station will only accept clear plastic bags for trash disposal. Any garbage in black, white, green or other colored bags will be subject to a $5 cash payment. Patrons have until June 14 to follow the requirement of the recycling ordinance of 1992. Anyone with questions or concerns should contact the Transfer Station Office at 743-8518.
