PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Marc Lazure, a travel and tourism management major, recently embarked on a trip to South Africa as part of a Familiarization Trip, planned in conjunction with a required internship at Johnson and Wales University’s Travel Practicum. Lazure is the son of Ivan and Lucy Lazure of Lewiston.

The trip was planned and carried out by Johnson and Wales students who researched the transportation systems, history, geography and general tourist information of the area. Students are responsible for the group’s travel arrangements, transportation, wake-up calls, entertainment, meal reservation, baggage and sightseeing. Students also shared group tour guide responsibilities each day.

The group toured London, England and Cape Town, South Africa. They visited Buckingham Palace, Cape of Good Hope, Robben Island and Table Mountain. They experienced some of the local culture by visiting the local botanical gardens, taking an open safari game drive, visiting the Curio Market and dining at an authentic South African Restaurant.
