SABATTUS – The Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District will sponsor a workshop, “Unpaved Road Maintenance Workshop,” from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the Sabattus Town Hall.

The workshop will offer a short morning classroom session followed by field training. It will introduce basic road building and maintenance techniques and the Front Runner grader/rake.

The Front Runner is an attachment with flexible spring steel tines that fits onto the front of a three-quarter-ton or one-ton pickup, using a snowplow mount. It is used for road grading, maintenance, site cleanup, landscaping, finish grading and snow removal on soft roads.

The workshop is open to any interested persons responsible for maintenance of a gravel road. Registration is required and must be received by June 20. Cost is $10 a person to cover refreshments and materials. The workshop will qualify for contractor certification credits.

For more information or to register, call the Conservation District at 753-9400, ext. 400, weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
